Christmas Dinner.
I come from a family in which everyone cooks. While my mother prepares the dinner on Thanksgiving, on Christmas, everyone brings along additional food. The result is that we have roughly 5 times the amount of food actually consumed.
This year, I was tasked with dessert. I am more of a savory type (har har) but I gave it a whirl. Result? Banana bread pudding, chocolate sauce, fresh berries, dulce de leche ice cream, and a caramelized banana. Picture below.
I hope you had a great dinner!

Torchin’ a banana.

Yummm! I make bread pudding with a whiskey sauce every Christmas. I use croissants and French bread, pecans, and raisins; serve it warm with some whipped cream and there’s nothing better! Did you use banana bread or put bananas in the mixture?
I wanted to comment on your working Christmas Eve, got distracted and never got back to it. Be honest, do attorneys put in a lot of hours? I’ve had to hire one because my dad passed away in June and part of his estate has gone into probate. It’s been 6 months, I gave the guy a $5000 retainer. It takes him FOREVER to return my phone calls and to get things done. Except for getting my Letter of Office, I think I probably could have done everything he has done myself. He loves to rip on me for being a teacher – having sweet hours and summers off – but he seems pretty unaccountable. Is this guy just lazy or is this standard practice?

Whiskey sauce sounds good. I was going to do a rum sauce but just didn’t have the time.
I used a mixture of two different kids of bread and added mashed bananas into the mix.
Sent you e-mail on the other questions. I hope you’re doing well!

It looks delicious. I make a good banana bread but I never made (or ate) banana bread pudding. Did you make the ice cream too?

Just looking at that makes me want to go get a torch.

@debra – I did not make the ice cream. I have an ice cream maker but decided to forgo making my own ice cream. I’m not terribly good at it. heh.
@gen3cleaner – Man, you gotta get a torch. It’s the most fun of all kitchen gadgets. Everyone wanted to brulee my banana. I don’t even like typing that. But you know what I mean.
@Linda – Thank you!
