Banana: A Dog’s Story
Little Filthy has tried corn, peanut butter and watermelon. Let’s add banana to the list.
I decided to place the banana on the kitchen counter and let Little Filthy jump and try to snag it. To capture the picture, I climbed on top of the counter and looked down at the action. Captions are above the photo; click on the photo to see the full size. Did he get the banana? Find out after the cut.
Temptation. The banana sits innocently on the counter.
A closer look.
Planning: Working out a strategy to get the piece of banana off of the counter.
It smells so, so good.
Yelling does not make the banana fall down.
Whimpering, begging and pleading does not make attorney give banana to me.
Airborne.
The grab.
Success!
I am slightly worried that this means I officially have a series of my dog eating different foods.

You might want to consider teaching LF how to retrieve a key. A skill that may come in handy in your future.

Forgot to add that I’m glad we get to witness LF’s quirky eatting habits.
He’s always good for a laugh (especially when us readers are not the ones who have to clean up after him)

ha! he’s got the crazy eyes!

He is so cute.
You take very good pictures, and I enjoy seeing Little Filthy through your eyes. It’s like a story unfolding.
You ever take pictures of dancers ?
September 24th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
@lily – You’re right.
@debra – I’m glad you enjoy the monster. I have to admit…he keeps me amused.
@bev – totally. All food gives him the crazy eyes.
@Sandra – Thank you for the kind words. No, I’ve never taken pictures of dancers – not for any lack of interest in doing so, it’s just that I never picked up a camera other than a point-and-shoot pocket version until a year ago. If I could find a group of dancers open to it, I’d be happy to snap pictures for hours on end.

What kind of point and shot do you have? These are just fab photos.

@Kim – I’m sorry, I should have been more clear. I took these picture with an SLR – not a point and shoot. I just never used anything other than a point and shoot until about a year ago when I picked up an SLR. I have the most basic SLR around – a Canon XSi. Entry level SLR. Thank you for the kind words about the pictures; I’m learning!

Hilarious. I like your dedication to what seems like an extraordinary series haha.
I actually laughed out loud at the airborne pics. I think you should take requests on what the next food will be. Things could get crazy!

I love the “A Dog’s Story” posts. They’re my favorite.

@Kez – I’m afraid of what you all might suggest I feed to the beast. I think green beans will be next.
@Susan – thanks, Susan!

I work with photographers everyday and I would say you have the chops. The Seattle pics, the filthy little thing, the foodie shots they all prove that you have a third eye.

I asked because I’m a dancer and used to dance in a troupe. At one point we had a professional approach us and offer to take our pictures for his project on capturing the movement of dance. The picture on my header is one from a performance. The pictures he took of me during our session were one of the best things anyone has given me.
From looking at your pictures of LF, you capture certain looks and emotions and I wonder what you would get out of humans.
I really do think you should start up a photography website and display your work.

Am I the only one who thinks the funniest thing about all of this is the mental picture of RE up on the counter trying to get these pictures?
September 25th, 2009 at 11:29 am
I am surprised LF doesn’t bite you for all the torture you inflict on the poor baby.
My dog has only ever snatched one thing off the kitchen counter – a big giant turkey leg after thanksgiving. Try that for your next LF installment.

I was thinking the same thing as Jane Wonder…
Really good pictures though; I love the crazy eye one.
September 25th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Jane, i thought that too- adding that the best guys ever are ones who will do silly things like this! RE- LF is freakin’ adorable!
September 25th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
@Kim – You’re very kind. Thank you. I hope to continue improving.
@Sandra – Ah, thank you for the encouragement. I think I would enjoy taking more pictures of people.
@Jane – Oh, trust me…had you been here to see me climbing on to the counter and banging my head on the hanging pots and pans, you’d have had no doubt that that was the best part of this whole idea. It was pretty uncomfortable but I thought the angle was much better.
@Instigator – I don’t even know if LF could fit a turkey leg in his mouth. heh.
@Christine – That 2nd one? heh. Crazy eye!
@denise – hey there
Glad you like the beast.

You do have A LOT more time on your hands now, don’t you, RE?

What a bad thing to teach him getting food off the counter, I love the barking trying to get it down.
