Corn: A Dog’s Story.
Okay, found this from July 31 and decided to repost it because the monster kills me.
Little Filthy tried corn today.
A sniff.

A lick.

A nibble.

ATTACK!

Assessing the damage.

Conclusion: He likes it.

Just a random attorney writing about daily life with Little Filthy, my rotten dog.

Ha! I love the attack face. Kala eats corn like that as well, but I thnk she’s a bit more dainty
July 31st, 2008 at 2:44 pm
What a handsome man
July 31st, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Nice.
Question: Do you eat your corn back and forth, like a typewriter, or around and around?
This is an ongoing ‘debate’ in my house. I put debate in quotes because it’s not really a debate. I’m right, but my husband won’t drop it.
July 31st, 2008 at 2:56 pm
I love it! Hopefully he doesn’t have too much trouble digesting the corn kernals . . . ick! So, does little filthy prefer corn w/ butter or just plain?
July 31st, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Bev – I wish the flash hadn’t gone off so you could seen the expression on his face. He’s a terrorist.
July 31st, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Besos – He’s a monster and you know it firsthand.
July 31st, 2008 at 3:23 pm
KT – I tend to eat it across, typewriter style.
So, who won, you or your husband?
July 31st, 2008 at 3:24 pm
nld – No butter, just plain. I don’t even want to think about what he’d look like with a face full of buttered corn. Or the ramifications of that.
July 31st, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Wow, Little Filthy and I look exactly the same when it comes to eating corn!
July 31st, 2008 at 4:03 pm
He eats across, like a typewriter. I go around the cob. This way I don’t end up with butter on my face. Yech. Yet another one of my daytime quirks…I do NOT like being messy. Cannot stand having dirty hands.
Doesn’t matter how you eat your corn. I still win.
July 31st, 2008 at 4:20 pm
omg. i can’t stop laughing. LF is the BEST.
July 31st, 2008 at 4:27 pm
Oh I’m so jealous. I tried so hard to get a photo of the dog attacking the vacuum today and everytime I snapped, he was already on the retreat.
Hilarious photo series.
enjoy your foodie gig tonight!
July 31st, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Avitania – You realize that I’m seeing you next week? And I’m going to give you each (you and LF) an ear of corn. And Chris and I are going to snap pictures.
July 31st, 2008 at 4:46 pm
kt – How’s your husband getting butter on his face? That made me laugh. Is he mushing his face up against the corn so that it gets on his cheeks?
July 31st, 2008 at 4:47 pm
Lily – You can feed him the next ear, trying to keep your fingers out of reach.
July 31st, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Pajama Momma – Hello! Thank you for the nice words. Little Filthy hates the vacuum as well. It’s in the dog bible or something.
Ah, foodie gig was last night, actually. My pictures were too dark or I’d have posted a few. However, I may get some decent pictures tonight at dinner!
Of course, if the food or pictures stink, I’ll re-create the salt lick you made.
July 31st, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Ah, foodie gig was last night, actually
*sigh
A day late and someone’s ear cartiledge short I always say.
someday I’ll actually look at post dates.
July 31st, 2008 at 5:31 pm
He is quite cute, I must admit. But that’s not what you really CALL him is it? I mean, he has a blog name and a real life name, right?
My dog used to eat crayons. They didn’t digest very well, so he often had quite colorful excretions.
July 31st, 2008 at 6:34 pm
Nah, he’s not that much of a slob. But he does get the odd kernel or moosh of butter on the side of his mouth. Especially if he is eating quickly.
I’d prefer not to give him any ideas. He thinks my appreciation of personal cleanliness is funny and purposely wipes icky things on my hands just to bother me.
July 31st, 2008 at 8:49 pm
hahaha love it.
corn is rather awesome, isn’t it.
Cute pics!
July 31st, 2008 at 9:48 pm
So did he finish it off? Or was that few bites enough? I can’t believe you didn’t butter lf’s corn. For shame RE.
August 1st, 2008 at 12:42 am
How did you manage to get these pictures? AND how is this the first time LF’s had corn? What made you think to let him try? WHERE WAS I?!?!?!
AAAAAh… I always have so many questions….
He does look slightly like a terrorist though. I wonder if he’s on the Homeland Security Watch List… Hmmmm….
August 1st, 2008 at 7:43 am
Corn! Kala lurves her some corn, but she’s so dainty while she eats it as Bev pointed out. She takes small little nibbles and eats across the cob like a typewriter. Heh. It’s a sight to be seen. I’ll have to video it one time for you
Love the pics!
August 1st, 2008 at 7:44 am
Adorable.
August 1st, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Interesting that he ate the kernels and not the cob! He’s damn cute RE, kinda like you!
August 1st, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Awesome!!!
August 2nd, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Lulu and Izzy will attack an ear of corn like they haven’t eatten in a week.
Last time Lulu had some (She stole it off the kids plate) she came up to me later, hopped on my lap, and sneezed right in my face. And of course – a chunk of corn came shooting out her nose.
She’s a dainty one that Lulu.
August 2nd, 2008 at 1:52 pm
ohohoh! such a cutie!
August 4th, 2008 at 8:24 am
Adorable pics- i love the attack face too! I think my 2 little filthys will get some corn tonight… just to see what fun ensues.
KT, i’m like you when it comes to eating corn- simply for the mess factor. Except, I prefer no butter. In fact, my sis and i are so obsessively neat when it comes to eating that we have noticed we’re also “crumb suckers”. We suck in as we bite into a cracker or cookie or anything crumbly so as not to soil our shirts, laps or table! (Our mom was Mommie Dearest!)
August 4th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Ahh. He is adorable. Labradorks eating corn is no where near as cute…
August 4th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
geekgirl–me too! I had no idea there was a name for us!!
August 4th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
Although ‘crumb sucker’ isn’t exactly attractive…I don’t think I’ll have a t-shirt made…
August 4th, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Pajama Momma – I’m pretty sure that once you have children, wasting any time or mental energy on looking at post dates is a capital offense.
That ear cartilage thing is pretty gross, huh?
August 4th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Brenda -
Little Filthy is incognito. Shhhhhhh.
Crayons? I thought only 3 year old kids did that. Interesting!
August 4th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
kt – I hate having stuff on my hands, too. Especially if it is even slightly sticky. I remember having a piano teacher who had 8 kids and I’d sit down and she’d say, “Oh, just a second…” and she’d lick her finger and wipe jam off of a key. heh.
Okay, the CRUMB THING?! That’s officially a new one for me. Never heard of that before. I laughed when I read Geekgirl’s comment and even harder when you responded “me too!”
August 4th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
kez – Corn *is* rather awesome. Especially on the IN-route. Not so much the OUT-route.
August 4th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
I want a date with Little Filthy. I’d even walk him or something. I’ll be in Chicago this week–can’t you fix the two of us up? Seeing as all I seem to attract are DOGS anyway
LOL.
Okay–top three best not well known Chicago things to do, pretty please. Thanks! I’ll be there tomorrow so quick!
August 4th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Sticky piano keys…EW.
You’re talking to a pianist here. No one gets NEAR my piano with crap on their hands.
You know, you take a bite of a cookie or something and you instinctively suck in a little so the crumbs don’t fall…what? You don’t? Oh.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
That is hilarious. Especially the attack face. Did he eat the whole thing?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Kez – Thank you.
I never thought of corn as awesome but I’m pretty sure Little Filthy would whole heartedly agree with you.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:22 pm
Instigator – I didn’t let him finish it off. He’s only about 20 pounds. I figure that’s like a regular person eating a ton of corn. The potential for disaster was too huge.
And you can’t shame me into buttering corn for my dog.
At least, I don’t think so.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
SnarkyRunner – I was holding the ear of corn in front of me and had the camera in the other hand. He’s never had corn before because I don’t give him much people food at all. He gets small pieces of banana, a handful of blueberries every so often and sometimes a spoonful of yogurt. That’s about it. And yup, that ATTACK picture is on the wall of the FBI, CIA, NSA and other super secret acronyms.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
LynchSeattle – I’ve SEEN your dog video of Kala before being fed. NO WAY I believe that girl is dainty eating corn. I must insist on the video!
August 4th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
Heather – Hey there! How’s the Greta bomb?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
QTMama – I was holding the ear so he wouldn’t eat the cob. I’m sure he’d have eaten every last bit. Does your pooch eat corn?
August 4th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
MsSingleMama – Are you a dog person or a cat person? I can’t decide which I think you are.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Tiffany – That’s awesome – it came out her nose?! I bet that was quite an interesting surprise.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
SteamyKitchen – Whoa, hi, Jaden! What a nice surprise to see a comment from you! I hope you’re doing really well. I like the new layout of your page (I realize I’m about a year late with that comment, probably).
Thanks for the words about LF. He’s cute but a monster.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
Geekgirl – Did you feed the little ones some corn?
That crumb sucker thing…I just…my mind boggles.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Colleen – I’m going to start saying labradorks. I bet a lab could fit an entire ear in its mouth.
August 5th, 2008 at 7:39 am
If I might be so bold as to jack your comment to Geekgirl…THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH CRUMB SUCKING. IT IS A COMPLETELY NORMAL RESPONSE TO EATING CRUMBLY FOOD.
Seriously, what is so mind-boggling about it? We are tidy. Love it.
Pay attention next time…I bet you do it too and you just don’t realize it. Then you’d better apologize to Geekgirl. It’s her word.
August 5th, 2008 at 8:01 am
kt – *laugh* My apologies, indeed! In fact, I will be on the look out for crumb sucking, both in myself and others.
-R.
August 5th, 2008 at 8:02 am
Brenda – Ah! Welcome to Chicago! What time will you be arriving? We’ve had bad weather and I’m afraid the city looks a little beat up. When it clears, I suggest lunching at the Signature Room in the John Hancock building to get a nice view of the city. And, supposedly, the view from the ladies room is the best in the city (no lie).
I’ll think more on what else you might enjoy – what all do you enjoy doing?
August 5th, 2008 at 9:08 am
books, music (classical), art, photography, water
the usual–thanks for the tip! i’ll be leaving in a couple of hours. we are supposed to be getting mega thunderstorms here so we’ll see if i’m actually on time
August 5th, 2008 at 11:41 am
omg. this is my first comment on your blog. eeeeeee! I love these pictures. I’m going to try and take pictures of my dog playing the water bottle game. Which is: Chew the bottle of water until the cap comes off. Discard.
August 7th, 2008 at 6:36 am
Brenda – My apologies for a very delayed response. There are many activities that play toward your interests so that is very good! How’ve you been spending your time here thus far?
Considering your interests, you truly must hit the art museum and Millennium Park to see the concert venue – hopefully for a free concert.
Let me know what activities you had planned!
-R.
August 7th, 2008 at 6:37 am
Sitcom – Yo! I’m glad you broke your comment hymen.
