In which Instigator contemplates Ann Curry’s death.
Instigator and I had an interesting conversation about Tim Russert yesterday. Instigator was saddened by his death and lamented the fact that someone else less meaningful to her hadn’t died, instead.
In fact, what she said was, “Why wasn’t it…I don’t know,…Ann Curry, for example.”
I barked, “Whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa. Whoa.”
I like Ann Curry.
I said, “Why didn’t you say someone like Rush Limbaugh? Or Ann Coulter?”
But her point was that those were such obvious choices and she was trying to name someone she didn’t wish death upon, but simply someone whose death would not have saddened her quite so much. I offered up Katie Couric in lieu of Ann Curry. No one is watching CBS evening news. It might be a week before anyone even noticed.

I take exception to the title of your entry – I was contemplating Tim Russert’s death. While I did offer up Ann Curry as a much more palatable victim of an untimely death, I was in no way contemplating her death. Though I think you got my point which was, basically you could pick anyone – ANYONE – on TV or in print and their death would almost certainly not bother me as much as Tim R’s did, if at all. He was someone who I found truly compelling. If he was discussing Burger King vs Mcdonald’s as the better burger, I would have tuned in. I will miss him.

Me too Instigator!
Unfortunately a good friend’s aunt passed away the same day so I haven’t been able to properly mourn Little Russ quite yet. But I saw him in New York 3 weeks ago (he was moderating a debate between John Edwards and Rudy Giuliani that I attended) and that made me happy. Since I’ve also see Katie (in the street) and I haven’t seen Ann Curry ever, I agree with your choice instead of Random Esq’s.
What does that say about me? That I’m a whore for celebrity sightings, and their life is worth more to me because it?
Well there are worse things in life.

I really don’t like Ann Curry – totally got where Instigator was coming from.
My thought after Tim Russert died was – what the F are we going to do without him? Can’t say that about Ann Curry. Sorry Random! I’m an ex-journalist so this is very touchy for me. But Katie Couric – even worse than Ann Curry. Ugghhh… could go on. The state of media in this country just makes me sick – sick – sick.

Instigator – Okay, fair enough. I like this turn of phrase:
“much more palatable victim of an untimely death”
You have a way with words. Heh.
I think we settled on Larry King being a much more palatable victim of an untimely death. I vote Larry King.

Vittoria, if we are to be married someday, our love for Tim Russet will keep us together. That’s cool you saw him fairly recently. I’ve seen Katie Couric outside the today show. I don’t even think she’s cute but she was about two feet away from me and my sister said my eyes were huge. So, apparently, I’d whore myself out to Katie.
We’d make a lovely couple!

Ms. SingleMama – Ann Curry, while I like her enough, drives me nuts when she does interviews. She’s far too…dramatic in them.
Do you like any journalists or news people right now?
And I have to say, you’ve got a great voice. Get back into journalism and get on the radio or my television!

I’m just gonna say it: Ann Curry is totally hot. I don’t care what she’s carping on about, or whether she’s saying “Good Morning” eight hundred times in a row. She has a beautiful mouth. AND HER HAIR. SWEET JESUS, she has GREAT HAIR.

Avitania – You know, maybe that’s it! Maybe I think she’s sort of hot.
Did you know she’s 51 years old? She looks great.

Holy shit. 51?! I want to look that good when I’m 51. Whatever it takes: bathe in the blood of virgins? Totes fine.

Ann Coulter. Meh. She could have replaced Bill O’Reilly on my last comment about who I’d like to slug. Man I can’t stand her.

I now have that song “love will keep us together” in my head. Given the mood I’m in, it’s relatively surprising you did not make it onto the list of grievances. Apparently I do like you quite a lot.

So I was reading this and remebered that Luke Russert (Tim’s Son) had back stage seats for the Pearl Jam show in DC last Sunday. Not a bad way to ease the sorrows, having the best seats in the house at Verizon Center listening to Pearl Jam and hear them sing Alive. (Which is about Eddie’s Dad) By the way my site is finally up, but still going through growing pains.
