1. You’re having an intimate gathering. Invite one of each:

a) one person from your current life,
BEV - MY WIFE. She made it abundantly clear that if I didn't put her down she would be very upset. So she's in like Flynn.

b) one (known) person who has passed away,
My Mom's mother who passed away when I was fairly young. Would like to spend more time knowing her now. She was a super sweet lady. Cooked way too many cakes and pies every time I went to see her.

c) one famous person (alive or dead), and
Gine Gershon. She rocks. That's why.

d) one person from the internet you’ve never met.
RE! Of course!

2. What is the best meal you can make?
Filet Mignon with preparation that's a mixture of an article I read on here and from a friend of mine.

3. Would you rather be illiterate or blind?
Illiterate. At least then you probably don't know you're illiterate. You know when you're blind.

Hi there, Plush. I haven't tasted your cooking but I'm going to trust you on that one. I'll cook - you bring grandpa and Albert and the little Beatles kid. That page made me grin.

Good call, good call, on Guitar Hero!

Okay, I've been wanting to answer this for days but haven't had, well, creativity. My brain doesn't always work. But I'm back, so!

1. I'd probably invite RandomEsq, not just because this is where the question was posted but because I can't think of many people in my life who would be able to come up with as many fabulous questions. Plus I like those little secretive nudges during group events - makes me feel special. ;)

One person I know who has passed away...I don't know that many people, to be honest, but it would probably be my grandpa. I didn't get to talk to him nearly enough when I was growing up and now - well, I'm a cliche.

Albert Einstein. Again, I'm a cliche, I know, but I fucking love that man. Plus I think Grandpa would have enjoyed talking to him.

And as for the internet person...man...maybe that little Japanese kid who plays Beatles songs?

2. Yikes, I'm a horrible cook! Um...no really...RandomEsq has offered to make me dinner and I think that we should probably leave it at that. I could contribute, maybe, mac & cheese?

3. Tough call...I'm an avid reader so being illiterate would relegate me to the ranks of the reality TV watchers. On the other hand, I'm super clumsy and kind of needy, so being blind would probably just make me a complete whiny klutz.

I'll go with illiterate. At least then I could still play Guitar Hero.

RandomEsq: Does this mean you'll make us Monkfish if the Seattle contingent descends upon Chicago? Because we'll bring forks and an appetite.

So it looks like I have to re-do that question -- I'm sad I didn't know Richard Pryor, too! Then it would probably have to be my father, because he would tell jokes that no one would understand -- and that, in itself, would be funny.

And yeah - you're right - if I were to invite my dead father to the dinner would be wise to make the living person at the table - my mother. So they could talk. Sad. I hate this post. Sorry.

For a) I'd invite my mother because my answer to b) is her best friend (and my second mother) who passed away of breast cancer. There are, for better or for worse, things I know my mother would have liked to tell her - and I would, too.

c) one famous person (alive or dead) - Anne Frank.

d) one person from the internet you’ve never met. - This is very hard as I'd like to meet the entire Seattle contingent, Mamaphunk and a host of others. Since I am confident that I will meet them all soon, I'll go with the woman who writes The Leaky Brain. (abarclay12.wordpress.com)

2. What is the best meal you can make?

Steak. DUH. But if it can't be steak...probably a roasted monk fish with jasmine rice (cooked with lemon grass, garlic, fresh basil and a touch of crushed pineapple) with some steamed vegetables.

3. Would you rather be illiterate or blind?

I think illiterate.

Hi, Ms Single Mama,

I called shenanigans on the same answer for the illiterate/blind question. You have to be either illiterate or blind - that means illiterate for life or blind. No teaching yourself to read.

I'll respond in a new comment with my answers now.

If I were blind...I wouldn't be able to read anyway. Right? I'd have to go with illiterate. Then I could always re-teach myself to read and write. Could never un-blind myself.

Where are your answers to those questions Random?

Mine would be.

1. My boyfriend.
2. My father.
3. Georgia O'Keefe.
4. Seth Godin.

Not sure what I would cook, probably steaks...
